20 Reasons Why I Like Winters So Much: Explore Why Winters Are Awesome

Are you tired of GoT references yet? Brace yourself. Winter is coming. Okay, sorry.

The speed of the ceiling fan has finished the countdown to 0.

You really don’t know whether carrying a jacket is going to be a wise decision or another way to make you look like a fool if the day decides to be bright and sunny.

But winters are love. Here’s why:

20 Reasons Why I Like Winters

Here are 20 compelling reasons why I like winters, let’s see if these resonate with you.

1. Six-pack Abs Can Wait

What good are Six-pack Abs if you can’t show them off? Put those short dresses and tops away.

Let the paunch grow and prosper! Cover it up with a heavy jacket, or just cover it up with an excuse that you are wearing three layers when you really aren’t.?

Six-pack Abs can wait till the summers. Indulge in your favorite food without a care in the world.

Preserve your energy to keep your body warm, and don’t regret the extra butter on the bread or ghee on the hot paranthas!

2. Ditch Bathing

Dip your hand in a bucket full of water. That’s it.

Every cell in your body has already sent the signal to your brain – Say NO to Bathing Today.

You can go for at least 2 days without bathing or anybody finding out.

A quick fact check ✔️: you are not dirty, your skin can clean itself. Yes, you’re also saving some water that way.

3. The Cozy Bed

The Cozy Bed
The Cozy Bed

The best part about winters is that warm blanket that is almost as warm as mommy’s love, and about as comfortable as being in your lover’s arm.

In case you’re forever alone like me, nothing beats the comfort of a cozy bed.

The gravitational pull with which the bed holds you is exponentially high in this season.

In case you just HAVE to get outside every day, spread the blanket wide on the bed, hide everything under it, and voila … Your room is clean!

All you have to do after getting back home is get into PJs, warm socks and get friendly with everything you’ve stuffed inside the blanket.

Munching over some good snacks while being wrapped in a warm quilt is the perfect way to be, in winter.

4. Bonfire

Bonfire Party

It’s all about uber-cool stuff like Antakshari, Dumb Charades, BBQ-ing, getting drunk, and not remembering anything about it the next day because you were sloshed.

But hey, we have a festival for that too! Popcorn, Revdi, and bhangra are the ingredients that make Lohri a festival to look forward to.

If that isn’t enough, organize a terrace bonfire party with rum and butter chicken. Heavenly!

5. No Sweat = No Worries

No Sweat

Makeup won’t melt and the hair will not be greasy every time.

Soaking in sweat at least once a day becomes a routine in summers. And don’t get me started on the Sweat stinks.

Forget it, good old winter days are here! anotherreason why I like winters so much.

And who doesn’t love the rosy cheeks in winters, Right?

6. Catching up on Shows

Days are shorter. This means you will have to work less and chill more in the blankets.

Netflix and Chill get a whole lot better when you do it wrapped in a blanket. Tons of megahits are also released in winter.

Book your tickets! Or if you enjoy the company of books, you can just spend the night with a cuppa coffee and a book from your to-read list.

7. Thank God! The Heat is gone

Remember what scorching summers do to you and your skin?

The heat would totally drain the energy before any productive work could and make us feel more tired and irritated than before.

How does it look for me? Suffocation caused by humidity would get to me and I would just give up and faint.

The heat of the summer is gone. You can always pile on clothes if you’re feeling cold.

But in summers, you just can’t do anything but get soaked in sweat.

Winters are definitely better than summers. I bet you would agree.

8. That Warm Cup of Tea/Coffee

Sip slowly as the steaming hot cup of tea or coffee warms your hands. That hot cuppa coffee/ tea tastes even better in cold winters.

Don’t expect a lot to happen over coffee as long as it successfully warms the insides of your throat and your freezing palms.

Shiver. Sip. Shiver. Sip.

9. SNOW!

Winter has a magical atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re in a fairytale.

For someone who has spent a major part of her life in a valley, I’ve always looked forward to snow-covered hilltops every winter.

Creating deformed snowmen and throwing snowballs at people after a snowfall is customary.

In the lap of nature, between the endless white expanses and unlimited memories, I had often wished for summer to never return! Alas.

10. No Clothes To Wear?

No problem. You don’t have to stress yourself every morning overthinking what to wear.

Because… It’s Winter. Happy Sigh! Keep shuffling between the jackets you have with some mixing and matching and you’re good to go.

Creased top or the T-shirt you wore over 50 times now? No problem.

You can always layer with a sweater or a coat. Enhance your look with a cute hat or a sexy scarf.

11. Festive Season is Here

There’s a long list of food you can hog on in winters but I have to mention Gajar Ka Halwa, Gond Ka Ladoo, Sarson Da Saag among many other homemade delicacies which you can gorge on only in winters.

13. Long Hugs

Imagine cuddling with your loved one, it can be a human, your pet, or even your laptop. Long hugs and hearty laughs would keep your heart and body warm.

I wait for winters to feel those warm hugs, something which I totally resist during summers.

It’s not only the way the cold air smells but also the feel of it ❤️. Oh! And I love rubbing my hands to feel some warmth.

The bugs won’t bug you anymore (I mean at least during winters).

Mosquitoes, wasps, insects, and ants are all gone and you can sleep peacefully.

This is also one of the major reasons why I feel winter is better than summer.

16. Lit Streets

Streets get to escape the mundane look of routine and get all decked up during the plethora of festivals that make their way during winters.

To step out of the house and gaze at the twinkling lights is a worthwhile experience. Markets pop up especially during Diwali, Christmas, and New Year.

Sit in a group of five, crack peanuts, and discuss how this day is the coldest in the history of Delhi.

Wear your entire wardrobe so that no one can guess your gender from the dense fog that doesn’t lift until you’ve reached work.

Make the most of the season which allows you to binge-watch and binge eat without any regrets.

So, why winter is the best season? Precisely, because it’s not summer anymore. chuckles
